This past Tuesday, The Daily Deelight presented an intimate preview of an event that’s coming up this weekend. Lettuce Jam is the name and greens is their game. This local festival surrounds and showcases the glorious greens grown by Gude Brothers Greenhouses. My thought to get the best exposure of his these leafy greens…why a chef challenge, of course. I invited local chefs from Canapes Catering, The Wine Kitchen, and Le Parc Bistro to take these gorgeous greens and elevate them beyond the conventional fare. They used their incredible creativity and culinary skill to craft scrumptious bites that were full of flavor and imagination.
To wet their tasting palates, attendees enjoyed local beverages from Milkhouse Brewery, Distillery Lane Ciderworks, homemade mint // sage lemonade and good ole’ h2o displayed in beautiful beverage dispensers from Relish Decor.
As chefs prepped their bites, guests enjoyed tours of the greenhouses by Larry Gude himself!
The challenge quickly began once the aromas of the food started wafting. Guests were no longer interested in just admiring these enticing plates, they were ready to taste. Lucky for them, they had the difficult (and delicious) task of deciding which on of these beautiful bites was going to be this year’s Lettuce Jam Chef Challenge winner.
The guests tasted and voted…and tasted and voted.
Finally a WINNER was chosen!
Chef Lewis Simon of Canapes Catering walked away the winner of this year’s Lettuce Jam Chef Challenge!
Congratulations! And many many thanks to all the chefs//restaurants who participated, guests who attended and Gude Brothers Greenhouses for hosting!
What is this Lettuce Jam thing all about anyway??
Well…Lettuce Jam 2015 is happening this coming Saturday, June 13th from 12-6pm @ Gude Brothers Greenhouses in Middletown, MD.
